Dental Veneers Without The Wait in Burton

One stop tooth restoration at Alexandra Dental Care.

Creating a whiter smile for patients is something that we pride ourselves on being able to do, not only effectively, but quickly too. Most of our Burton patients will be familiar with our in-house teeth whitening treatment which takes only one hour to greatly improve the whiteness of your teeth, but what about when the discolouration is very severe and may not be improved sufficiently with this procedure?

In this instance, the best option available is to have dental veneers fitted to replace the stained or damaged front enamel of the teeth. This is an effective and well established procedure, but for some patients, it is not without its drawbacks.

The wait for veneers

To produce customised dental veneers for the patient, first of all it is necessary to remove a fine layer from the front of the teeth, ready to be replaced by the porcelain veneers. At many dental practices around the UK, this means that impressions are first taken which are sent to a dental laboratory for the veneers to be made. This is a process which takes around a fortnight, during which time temporary veneers are usually fitted to protect the teeth.

Whilst some patients are prepared to wait, there is little doubt that it is inconvenient as it requires a second visit to the dentist. Additionally, temporary veneers may may not look entirely natural as they are not designed specifically for that person.

CEREC

And now for the good news!

At Alexandra Dental Care, we are able to bypass this problem for our patients. Over the years, we have invested in the latest dental technology including CEREC. This is a digital system which not only does away with the need for taking impressions, something some patients find uncomfortable, but also means that we can produce the veneers at our surgery while you wait. Instead of impressions, digital scans are taken which are then used by the CEREC system to prepare the veneers from a single block of porcelain. Because of the precise nature of milling process, there is a short wait of approximately one hour or so whilst the veneer is prepared. You are welcome to wait in our comfortable waiting room whilst this is happening.

Once the veneer is complete, we then simply attach it to your prepared tooth using a dental adhesive before finally trimming and polishing the veneer to give it a natural appearance.

So, if you feel that your teeth are heavily stained or have suffered from small chips or cracks and don’t look as you would wish them to, why not call our dental practice, handily situated midway between Burton and Ashby, on 01283 216347.
