Straighter Teeth in Just a Few Weeks

Inman Aligner – helping our Burton and Ashby patients overcome crooked teeth

Whilst most people would like to have straight teeth, many are put off by the thought of having to wear dental braces for a long period of time. Traditional braces, of course, are also very unsightly, uncomfortable and have to be worn for a long time. As teenagers we may be forced to wear these by our parents, but as adults we have the choice and in the vast majority of cases, the answer would be a resounding no!

This then brings us to the options offered by adult orthodontics. There are a number of these new braces available on the market now and the one thing that draws them together is the fact that they are significantly more discreet than standard braces. In some cases, such as Invisalign, a completely new technique is used, using a series of transparent trays as opposed to the more traditional wire and braces approach.

A Speedy Solution

Many of these adult orthodontics are also much faster acting than traditional braces and, indeed, one of the most popular even takes its name from the average time that it takes to work; the ‘Six Month Smiles’ option.

Even six months though, can seem like a lifetime to some people, especially if their problem is not too severe. Most people too, are only really concerned about the appearance of their teeth and, providing that the rear teeth are not causing any problems with their bite, are likely to be only concerned with how the visible front teeth appear.

Because of this, if you have some overcrowding or protruding front teeth, then the Inman Aligner may be the perfect solution for you.

How Does the Inman Aligner Work?

Unlike traditional braces, the Inman Aligner works by using springs to power two aligner bows which oppose each other. This allows gentle pressure to be applied over a wide range of movement. Whilst some aligners simply apply pressure in one direction, the use of the two bows allows one to ‘push’ whilst the other one ‘pulls’.

Because of this dual action, times are much shorter to correct positional problems and in most cases, results will be seen in between six and eighteen weeks. At Alexandra Dental Care, you will be invited to have a consultation, during which we will discuss the options available to you. If the Inman Aligner is deemed to be the most appropriate procedure, we will give you an estimate as to how long your own specific treatment will take.

As the aligner is made to fit each person individually, it is considered to be both discreet and comfortable. You will be encouraged to have the aligner checked every few weeks to make sure that everything is going to plan.

As with all orthodontics, once the treatment is complete and you are left with a nice set of straight teeth, you will need to have a retainer fitted to prevent the teeth from moving back to their incorrect position again.
