Treat Yourself To A ‘Valentine’s Smile’

Whitening your teeth in time for February 14th at our Swadlincote practice.

February 14th is an important date in many people’s calendars. Whether it is the date that you hope to impress someone that you have only recently met, or even your long term partner of many years, there are many ways other than roses and chocolates to make it a memorable date (although they may well help!)

A great smile is also a memorable one and it is widely considered that, especially in the early stages of a relationship, a warm smile is one of the things that is attractive to both sexes. A well intended warm smile with unsightly discoloured teeth though, may well prove to have the opposite effect of what was intended!

Natural discolouration

Even though you probably clean your teeth regularly and may even floss, this does not guarantee that your teeth will remain white; although it is, of course, still a very important thing to do from an oral health perspective. Some discolouration can occur because our diet includes teeth staining foods, but even where this is not the case, our teeth will naturally start to discolour as we get older as the inner parts of our teeth darken, leaving a shade of yellow.

Despite all of the teeth whitening products on the market, the only guaranteed and fast acting teeth whitening method available to reverse these effects, is to have professional treatment with a registered dentist.

Teeth whitening procedure

Many patients from Swadlincote, as well as Burton and Ashby, have had their teeth whitened by one of the cosmetic dentists at Alexandra Dental Care. This is a fast, effective and entirely pain free procedure that is completed in around one hour. Your lips and gums will be protected from coming into contact with the whitening ingredient, which is a special form of dental bleach. The whitening gel is applied to the teeth and activated with a special light to speed up the process. One hour later the gel is removed and the process is complete, leaving you with teeth up to eight shades whiter than they were.

Although there is no discomfort during the procedure, a few patients do notice a little more sensitivity in their teeth for a few days. This should disappear quickly although it is advisable to have the treatment a few days before your Valentine’s date, just to be certain.

Cosmetic dentistry

Whilst a teeth whitening procedure can produce near instant results, some other procedures such as orthodontics or dental implants can take longer, but it’s worth the wait to achieve the stunning results modern dentistry can deliver. If you would like to arrange an appointment to have your teeth whitened, or would like more general cosmetic dental advice, why not call Alexandra Dental Care today on 01283 216347.
