Never Too Busy For Essential Dental Care

In today’s fast moving society, always make time to look after your teeth and gums!

It is true that many of us live very busy lives. The fast pace of change in society, and especially the use of various technologies, means that we are always available to our boss, friends and family. Sometimes these communications come at an inconvenient time and may leave us chasing to catch up on other things.

However much society is changing, some things remain the same, and one of these is the importance of looking after your oral health. It really doesn’t take very long but will certainly improve your quality of life and help you to avoid common problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.

Home care

Even if you receive an important email from your boss that has to be dealt with late at night, leaving you feeling shattered, this shouldn’t be used as an excuse not to brush, and also floss, your teeth before going to bed. Both of these should be a regular part of your daily oral care regime. It only takes a few minutes but is the basic defence against decay and gum disease.

Dental appointments

If you have travel to our practice from Ashby and nearby areas; although we are close by, it may sometimes feel like you don’t have time to keep your dental appointment. Whilst we obviously appreciate early notice of any cancellations so that we can see other patients, we would much rather patients of Alexandra Dental Care not cancel them at all, except where absolutely essential. Your six monthly dental check enables us to perform a thorough examination of your mouth, where we check for signs of decay, gum disease and even oral cancers. Although the latter is relatively rare, it is a problem that is growing; so cancelling a regular appointment could even threaten your long term health.

CEREC

Whilst most essential treatments such as fillings and hygienist visits take just one trip to the dentist; those that involve certain restorations such as dental crowns or veneers, usually take two visits. This, of course, does create an additional inconvenience as your teeth have to be prepared at the initial visit and impressions taken. These are then sent to a dental laboratory for the restorations to be made. You are then called back for a second visit to have them fitted – so typically two (or more) trips for this type of dental work.

However, here at Alexandra Dental Care, we are able to avoid this problem and our Ashby patients can take full advantage of the CEREC system that is actually installed on-site. Using this advanced technology, your teeth are prepared and then digital scans taken. The digitised information is then fed into the computerised milling system and your crown or veneer is produced from a single block of porcelain within a single hour, whilst you wait and negating the need for a second appointment.

If you have skipped an appointment, or perhaps more than one, now is the time to get back on track. Our local patients can contact our team to arrange a new appointment by calling us on 01283 216347.
