Anti Wrinkle Treatment Care

Aftercare advice for our Burton and Ashby facial aesthetics patients.

The Alexandra Dental Care team are now pleased to offer both dermal fillers and other anti wrinkle treatments to help combat the signs of ageing. Our Burton and Ashby patients can now enjoy safe and effective procedures that can help you look younger than your years, and which will last for many months.

Both anti wrinkle treatment and dermal fillers are injected just under the skin in the areas where they are needed, which is both safe and fast acting. We will complete a full assessment before any treatment as certain health conditions may make this treatment unsuitable for you; however most people can benefit without any concerns.

Providing that you are a suitable candidate, you can look forward to smoother looking skin within just a few days of receiving treatment. Generally, there are no after effects, aside from possibly a little localised bruising. Below we offer some simple aftercare advice for anyone who is due to undergo these procedures. Please read on:

Do not lie down for at least 4 hours following your injections. This is to allow the anti wrinkle solution to settle into the area where it was placed.

Do not massage or manipulate the areas of the injections. This is largely for the reasons above, as well as for your own comfort.

Do not exercise for 24 hours. Whilst mild exercise such as gentle walking might be unavoidable; under no circumstances should you partake in any unnecessary energetic activity. Exercise can increase the blood flow, which, whilst generally a good thing, can also move the solution before it has had time to effectively enter the muscular tissue.

If possible, avoid flying for 24 hours. This is not essential but changes in temperature, if you are travelling somewhere hot, along with cabin pressure, may have an effect on the treatment. This is relatively rare, but it is best to avoid this type of travel straight away. Ideally, leave a day or so following the treatment.

Don’t be afraid to call us if you feel something is not right. Side effects from anti wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers are very rare and serious ones even more so. If you do notice something such as shortness of breath, or difficulty in swallowing, do not delay and call Alexandra Dental Care for prompt advice on what to do next.
