Why Patients Travel to Alexandra Dental Care

A look at why some of our patients travel from Burton and Ashby De La Zouch.

Visiting the dentist is something that many people see as a chore, something that has to be done, at best, in order to keep their teeth healthy and free from pain. To this end, many people simply choose the most convenient dentist to visit, usually one situated close to where they live.

This is understandable and probably works for some. We have found though, that since our practice was established, we are seeing an increasing number of patients who travel even across county borders from places like Ashby De La Zouch and Burton on Trent.

Friendly and professional

At Alexandra Dental Care, quite naturally, we take pride in the way that we treat our patients, dealing with them in a friendly manner which helps to put them at ease. Even our reception staff are trained to do this as they are the first people that a nervous patient will see when they enter the practice. This first encounter can certainly help to settle any nerves if they are anxious.

Our treatment rooms too are designed to be comfortable and are equipped with modern equipment and are kept clean and hygienic to minimise any risk of cross infection.

Procedures

One thing which many patients from Burton and Ashby mention when we enquire why they came to us, is that we offer such a comprehensive list of procedures; from those which keep teeth in good health through to advanced cosmetic dental procedures which are designed to make a patient’s teeth look great.

Whilst many dentists now offer teeth whitening, we also offer less easily accessed dental treatments such as dental implants, amalgam removal and treatment for jaw and headache problems.

With such a wide selection of procedures available in one place, patients travelling to us know that they won’t need to see other dentists for more complex procedures.

Convenience

It may seem strange to say that many of these patients also come to us because we are convenient. After all, they do have to travel to us rather seeing a dentist closer to home.

For some procedures though such as dental crowns and veneers; at many dental practices, this entails two visits. Following impressions, the crowns and veneers have to be sent away to be made.

At Alexandra Dental Care though, we have Cerec technology available within our practice which means that following scans, the patient can wait whilst the crown or veneer is made on the premises using Cerec. This process usually only takes approximately one hour and the crown or veneer is then ready to be fitted to the prepared tooth straight away.

As well as meaning that only one visit has to be made to the dentist to complete these procedures, research is increasingly showing that crowns and veneers made using this technology are actually stronger than when made in a dental laboratory.
