Do you know your dental charges?

There has recently been a lot in the press and on the radio regarding patients being unsure of dental charges. A recent investigation which took place over the UK bought to light how many patients leave their dental practice unsure of their treatment options and what they are paying for. Some dental practices even failed the requirement of displaying a price list within their waiting area!

At Alexandra Dental Care we have always felt it is essential that patients know at all times the cost of treatment. Our aim is to ensure every patients leave the practice well informed, with knowledge of all available treatment options and their costs. In accordance with General Dental Council guidelines our treatment costs are clearly displayed in our waiting room. To hand, in our waiting room we also provide a patient information folder containing all of our literature, included cost of private and NHS treatment available.

Within the dental surgery our respectable dentists will assess each patient individually. This will enable them to verbally discuss all treatment options specific to the patient and how much the dental treatment will cost. Further to this the options and cost are also provided in writing on a clear treatment plan. This allows our patients to obtain a copy to take away from the practice and make a fully informed decision about their dental treatment. Before leaving the practice our reception team will reiterate, if required any queries about their forth coming treatment.

To confirm we are achieving patients understanding of treatment options and cost, we regularly carry out audits which entail our patients anonymously answering a series of questions such as;

When attending for an appointment do you understand the care and treatment that you are receiving?

When visiting the practice do you know how much you are expected to pay?

When we give you a quotation do you understand what service we will provide for the fees involved?

Gathering this information allows us as a practice to recognize any areas of our service we may be able to improve. We strive to provide the best dental service possible!
