A look at the three types of dental braces available for our Burton and Ashby Patients

You may have suffered with crooked teeth since childhood, or your teeth may have started to overlap and crowd as you’ve aged.

Whatever the cause, here at Alexandra Dental Care we fully understand the impact that living with crooked teeth can have. Sufferers often say that they are afraid to smile whilst in company, with the problem ultimately affecting their quality of life, resulting in low self-confidence and self-esteem.

Our procedures.

In the past, alignment treatment would usually require the fitting of an unsightly wire brace for an extended period, often for months or maybe years. However, techniques have changed and we are pleased to offer our adult and teenage patients a range of modern procedures to correct crooked teeth, with the minimum of disruption to their lives.

We offer three main procedures:

Invisalign.

The Invisalign system for correcting crooked teeth uses a series of nearly invisible retainers which are custom made for your mouth. Manufactured from a clear thermoplastic material, they fit over your teeth, and exert a gentle pressure, gradually moving the teeth back into their correct position.

The aligners are designed to be changed around every two weeks, each new aligner being designed to move the teeth, bit by bit into a new position.

The benefits of Invisalign include:

  • This method requires few visits to your dentist.
  • They are easy to manage and keep clean, and can be removed to allow for normal eating and drinking.
  • Your regular oral hygiene practice can be maintained, just brush and floss as normal.
  • The aligners are manufactured from a clear plastic material, and are designed to be nearly invisible when worn.

The Inman aligner.

This method produces fast and excellent results on crooked front teeth. The aligner consists of a pair of coil springs and aligner bows manufactured from nickel titanium. It fits over your teeth, exerting a gentle pressure that gradually pulls the teeth back into the correct position.

The benefits of the Inman aligner include:

  • Fast results. Treatment is usually completed within 6 to 18 weeks.
  • Easy to use, the aligner can be removed for short periods, allowing for normal eating and drinking.
  • One device is used for the entire treatment period, meaning fewer visits to the dentist.

Six Month Smiles.

The Six Month Smiles brace uses a system of clear wires and brackets, helping to straighten crooked teeth. The system can offer fast results, with an average treatment time of just six months.

The benefits of the Six Month Smiles method includes:

  • Fast results, with an average treatment time of just six months.
  • The clear brackets and wires are designed to be barely visible, helping to achieve excellent results whilst minimising the impact on your day-to-day life.
  • The brace system is comfortable and easy to wear, exerting only a gentle pressure on your teeth.
