If you are considering your options for replacing missing teeth, this is one offer you really shouldn’t miss

For three days during the week commencing 23rd March, we are offering open days for our patients so that they can discover the wonder of dental implants. We do expect this to be a popular offer so please don’t delay and book your spot as soon as you can.

At Alexandra Dental Care, we believe that dental implants offer the best method of tooth replacement for our Burton, Swadlincote and Ashby patients who are missing teeth, and we hope that this open week affords you the opportunity to find out more about them from our experienced implant team.

What are we offering?

We are offering a free consultation with Dr George Savva where patients can discuss implants with the dentist and ask any questions that they have about them. These consultations usually cost £130 so this is an excellent opportunity to receive the correct information from a qualified dentist without paying a penny.

For those who decide to go ahead to have dental implants placed and have attended these open days, there is an additional bonus. For these people, we are also offering 10% off your dental implant treatment as well.  As dental implants can require a substantial investment, this represents a significant saving and one not to be missed.

Who can benefit from dental implants?

While you will be able to discuss all aspects of implants with Dr Savva, it is worth offering a few initial pieces of information here. Whilst most people will be suitable candidates for implant placement, there are some restrictions.

Firstly, it is important to state that implants can only be placed for patients whose jaws have already fully developed. This means that they can’t be placed into children. Even major tooth loss following an accident can not be remedied with dental implants until such a time that the jaw is fully developed. To do so would cause the implants to be positioned incorrectly as the jaw develops. This could also have a knock on effect on any natural teeth and could be painful for the patient.

For an implant to be placed securely, there needs to be sufficient bone into which it can be placed. Whilst most patients will have enough bone available, some may not. Age is a factor here and also if a tooth has been lost for some time, the bone is likely to have been  reabsorbed by the body. This doesn’t mean that teeth implants have to be ruled out, but for patients in this situation we will need to discuss having a prior procedure such as a bone graft or a sinus lift before the implant can be placed.

There may also be some medical conditions which mean that implants are not suitable and we will discuss this individually during the free consultation, or you can ring beforehand if you suspect that this might be the case.

Individual and multiple teeth

Although each implant replaces the root of an individual tooth, they are more flexible than this. An individual implant used to replace a single missing tooth is a well established practice, but developments over recent years now allow us to offer implants for multiple lost teeth replacement, even where a full arch of teeth is missing.

Instead of replacing each tooth individually with an implant, a small number, usually 4 or 6, implants are instead placed into the jawbone and a fixed bridge then attached, often straight away. With this particular procedure, sometimes called ‘teeth in a day’ there is no need to wait for 3 or 4 months whilst the implant and bone fuse together and you can start to eat with them straight away. There are some intial diet restrictions whilst the implants heal, but we will discuss the details with you so you are fully informed.

Dental implants are suitable for those who have recently lost teeth or those who may have been wearing dentures for some time, and indeed, dentures can sometimes be adapted and used instead of a fixed bridge where multiple tooth loss has occurred.

If you have been thinking about replacing your dentures, why not take this fantastic opportunity to find out more about how you can benefit from having implants placed instead? Please remember, places are limited and we do expect this to be a popular offer, so we recommend booking as soon as possible.

You can book an appointment to see George Savva, either by calling Alexandra Dental Care on 01283 216347 or you can book online here. We look forward to seeing you!
