Can I get a new crown fitted before Christmas?

One day crown fitting at our Burton dental practice

If you are unfortunate enough to break a tooth so badly that a simple filling will not suffice, it will most likely mean that you will need to have a dental crown fitted. This becomes problematic around times like Christmas when there are many festive social occasions and, at the same time, dental practices are closed for extended periods of time.

In most cases, when a crown is needed, it requires two visits to the dentist; the first to take an impression, along with x-rays, to measure the dimensions of the dental crown to be produced. These measurement are then usually sent to a laboratory in order for the crown to be made and this is then returned and fitted. This not only means two visits to the dentist but also usually a wait of up to two weeks.

This waiting time, if occurs at this time of the year can mean a less than enjoyable Christmas with extra care having to be taken when eating to prevent discomfort and even possible further breakage of the tooth.

CEREC

For patients of Alexandra Dental Care near Burton though, this is no longer a problem thanks to CEREC technology. This technology allows a crown to be fitted in just a single visit. Instead of x-rays and impressions being sent to a laboratory, we simply use this technology to scan the tooth and from the digital image it provides, we can then prepare the crown whilst you wait. This usually takes around just one hour, after which the crown can be attached instantly.

By using CEREC, we will try to fit a crown to anyone who needs it before the Christmas festivities begin in earnest. If this applies to you, simply call us to arrange an appointment as soon as possible.

Inlays and Veneers

It isn’t just dental crowns that can be produced using CEREC; dental veneers too can be made while you wait and this is of great benefit to anyone who needs an instant improvement in the appearance of their teeth. Although a tooth whitening procedure can be an excellent way to have whiter teeth; for those who have severely stained teeth or chipped and cracked ones, dental veneers offer an excellent method of improving their appearance.

Larger amalgam dental fillings too can be replaced with white coloured fillings using CEREC. This means that no longer will you have to look at those dark patches on your teeth but will barely notice the difference between your natural tooth and the new filling.

So, if you want to look your best this Christmas (and afterwards) but don’t want to wait for your new dental crown or veneers, why not give us a call at our dental practice near Burton and Ashby and we will do our best to fit you in before the Christmas holidays begin.
