Our dental practice has established itself amongst the local community and now provides dental services to hundreds of people throughout the year.

Safety

We take all necessary precautions to safeguard you and our staff. We follow recommended guidelines with regard to sterilisation of instruments and the use of disposable items, e.g. gloves and needles. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Our Team

Yogi Savania

Yogi Savania qualified in Leeds in 1989, and worked in practice in Derby before coming to Swadlincote in 1996.

Yogi passed the MFDGP postgraduate exam in 1994 at the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng.). He also held part-time Clinical Assistant posts in Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry at hospitals in Derby and Leicester.

He has a special interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, headaches and jaw problems, amalgam replacement, and care of nervous patients.

Yogi is a British Dental Association spokesperson and is on the editorial board of a national Dentists magazine and on the judging panel for their annual dental awards.

He has worked for several years in association with Sheffield Postgraduate department as a Vocational Trainer to postgraduate dentists.

Yogi is a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

He enjoys spending any remaining spare time with his wife and young family. Yogi is also a keen Scuba Diver and a black belt in the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do.

George Savva

George Savva graduated from The Royal London Hospital in December 1990. He has spent all his working life as a General Dentist in Derbyshire, firstly as an Associate and then as a partner at Alexandra Dental Care since 1996. George has also worked as a Clinical Assistant in Maxillofacial Surgery at the Derby Royal Infirmary, and has been a Dental Vocational Trainer for Sheffield University since 1999.

His special interests are cosmetic dentistry encompassing aspects such as crown and bridgework, veneers, tooth whitening and implants. In 2008 George completed the 2 year Advanced Certificate in Implant dental Care at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. He is now able to provide both the surgical and restorative stages of implant care at the practice. He is also hoping to undertake the MSc/Diploma course In the future.

George is married with four children. He is also a keen horse-rider and stays fit by going to the gym. George is also an avid Derby County fan.

Jag Chohan

Jag Chohan graduated at the University of Leeds, where he carried out his training for Bachelor of dental surgery (BChD).

Jag's interests within dentistry include, cosmetic dentistry, in particular (white) restorations.

Outside of dentistry, Jag enjoys football, especially playing five a side. He is also a keen golfer.

His aims are to provide a high quality of care for all patients, in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Randeep Gill

Randeep graduated from the University of Liverpool, with a qualification of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS Hons).

Randeep’s main interests in dentistry are cosmetic and restorative dentistry as well as treating and helping anxious patients. Randeep continually strives to provide all of her patients with the highest quality of care and satisfaction.

Outside of dentistry she enjoys travelling to different countries, taking in different cultures and cuisines, as well as socialising with friends and family.

Michael Shortt

Michael was born and raised in Northern Ireland, but studied at the Manchester School of Dentistry. Michael then went on to study further at the University of Queensland, School of Dentistry in Australia.

Michael has travelled in his career working in Australia, New Zealand and has even worked as a flying dentist! Michael spent time working in Peru, performing free treatment for local people in the remote hills of Cusco.

Michael places a strong emphasis on helping his patients keep a sense of control within the surgery, helping to reduce fear and anxiety. Michael has a special interest in restorative dentistry.

Michael has many adventurous hobbies including skiing, snowboarding and scuba diving. Michael is very well travelled and enjoys writing short fiction.

Helen Ward

Since qualifying as a hygienist at Manchester Dental School in December 1990, Helen has gained experience in hospitals, NHS and private practice.

Since joining our team in 1996 she has been developing the preventative side of the practice and has enjoyed improving peoples dental health. Helen lives locally with her husband and two young sons.
